Musculoskeletal

Musculoskeletal physiotherapy focuses on the biomechanical and structural rehabilitation of the body, with specific goals aimed at maximising an individual’s functional movement and helping them return to their normal daily activities. This type of therapy is commonly used to treat accidental injuries, sports-related injuries, and physical impairments caused by lifestyle factors or ageing.

The therapist will focus on the body’s primary structures—bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons—while also considering connected systems such as the heart, circulatory system, and lungs. Treatment is tailored to each individual based on their initial assessment. Personalised exercise plans and guidance are typically provided after each session, and the number of treatments required will vary depending on the patient’s recovery progress.

Musculoskeletal pain is commonly caused by injuries to the bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, or nerves. These injuries may result from sudden jerking movements, car accidents, falls, fractures, sprains, dislocations, or direct impacts to the muscles.

Symptoms of Musculoskeletal pain can include:

  • Aching or stiffness throughout the body.
  • low energy levels.
  • Sleep disturbances, such as difficulty falling or staying asleep due to pain or discomfort
  • Many individuals report a feeling that their muscles have been pulled or overworked, often without a clear cause.
  • Muscle twitching

The most effective treatment targets the underlying cause, which may vary depending on whether the pain originates from bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, or joints.
